Moorlands, hoping to improve on their third place finish, were five-wicket winners at home to East Leeds.
There was a disastrous start for Birstall in the Premier Division when they crashed to 99 all out at home to Altofts.
New Northowram Fields skipper Mark Gilliver saw his side get off to a good start with a 68-run win at home to Ossett. Nads Hussain hit 63 not out and took 5-46 for Fields.
