Two wickets in an over by Rich Pyrah gave Yorkshire some late-morning cheer against Durham at Headingley today.
The injury-hit visitors, without Steve Harmison, Mark Stoneman and captain Phil Mustard, had reached 106-0 in the 27th over following Dale Benkenstein’s decision to bat first.
But Pyrah trapped Michael Di Venuto lbw for 74 and then had Gordon Muchall caught at first slip by Adam Lyth two balls later.
Former Durham captain Will Smith was resuming on 35 not out this afternoon, with Ben Stokes for company, after lunching on 110-2 from 29 overs.
