It’s all change at the top of DIVISION ONE in the Bradford Central League after the latest set of fixtures, which saw leaders Allerton crash to defeat at home to Norwood Green.
That allowed Apperley Bridge, who beat Salem Athletic, to emerge has the new front- runners.
Ghiyaz Ahmed was the main man, returning 6-21 for Apperley Bridge, who dismissed home side Salem Athletic for just 98.
In reply, Bridge lost five wickets in reaching their target to take over at the top.
Norwood Green are looming large on the new leaders’ shoulders after a comprehensive win at the home of long-time leaders Allerton.
The visitors posted 267-5 through Yasir Khan (70), with Hassan Al Hab and Haroon Hafeez both making 52. In reply, Allerton fell way short of the target, hitting just 138.
Girlington (146-7, Habib Ur Rehman 74) recorded a three-wicket victory over winless Greenfield (142) to place them just seven points from the summit.
Improving Thornbury (228-9, Mohammed Rehan 66) picked up another six points at the expense of visitors Great Horton Church, who were dismissed for just 91 in reply.
DIVISION TWO leaders Salem suffered their first league defeat at the hands of second-placed Apperley Bridge, who had set the leaders a target of 168. In reply, the visitors looked in reasonable shape at 71-3 but Mohammed Saleem returned 6-10 to send them crashing to 89 all out.
The other game to finish was a very close affair at Great Horton Church, which saw the home side reach 189 (Abrar Hussain 59) before Thornbury, led by an unbeaten 69 from Qamar Zahid, crept over the finishing line with just one wicket to spare.
