The recent heavy rain had an effect of greening up the pitches, causing some low balls, which led to a number of low scores in the Dales Council League.

A 53-year-old record for the league's lowest score was almost lost in one of Sunday’s matches in Division C when New Farnley B were shot out for just 11, and their opponents Pudsey St Lawrence B then lost four wickets in chasing it down.

The local derby between Baildon and Shipley Provid-ence, both fighting for points, saw Shipley reduced to 149, with main man Saqib Mir making 58 and Brad Hinchliffe taking 5-38 for Baildon. In reply they put on 155-6, with Intisar Mahmood smashing 59 in 26 balls and Brad Hinchliffe 26 in nine balls.

Crompark could only manage 95 against Rodley, who went on to win with the loss of one wicket.

The top-of-the-table clash saw Mount (230-9) beat Farnley Hill (170), leaving them 15 points clear at the top of Division A. After Rodley B had put on 144-8, Tong Park Esholt were shot out for 87.

Hepworth Idle’s Brian Heaton took 5-16 to reduce Shipley Providence B to 62 after Hepworth had set a total of 193-4, with junior Kevin McDermott 63 not out and Maurice Chilton 63.

Tong Manor gained another 18 points after their win against Pudsey Congs B, leaving them eight points behind leaders Savile Stars but with two games in hand after Paul Hudson (74no) and Gareth Kitchen (5-26) shone.

Stuart Jolly for Baildon B had the day's best bowling figures of 5-4 against Pudsey St Lawrence B and Baildon lost just four wickets in topping their score of 74.

In the West Division, Baildon C put on 264, with Don Butterfield (57) and Gavin Atkinson (51) before second-placed Leeds Sikh were reduced to 134.

Crompark B were shot out for 75 at Meanwood after the home side had posted 313-5, with Bob Guthrie in fine form making 166 not out.

Wibsey Park Chapel ran a close finish with Cookridge, who lost nine wickets before beating Wibsey’s score of 108.
