Essex are steadily building a sizeable second-innings lead on day three of their LV= County Championship clash with Yorkshire at Chelmsford.
After bowling the Tykes out during the afternoon session, the hosts reached tea on 75-2, meaning they lead by 150 runs.
It took their bowlers just 15 minutes to finish off Yorkshire after lunch, when Oliver Hannon-Dalby was run out for one by Chris White to leave the White Rose county all out for 324.
That meant Essex had a first-innings lead of 75 – but their reply did not start well when Jaik Mickleburgh was bowled by Tim Bresnan with the very first ball.
Tim Westley also lost his stumps early on to give Steven Patterson a wicket and at this stage Essex were stumbling on 15-2.
But Westley’s wicket brought England duo Alastair Cook and Ravi Bopara together and by tea their partnership was worth 60, with Cook on 33 and Bopara 27.
