Division One leaders Burley will play Division Two front-runners Bilton in the final of the Waddilove Cup at Rawdon on Sunday, August 1.

It will be Burley’s 11th appearance in the Aire-Wharfe League’s knockout showdown but their first since winning the trophy in 2000.

But they nearly slipped up against Green Lane on a day when runs were hard to come by.

The accuracy of Shane Etherington (3-26) and Neil Davies (3-27) kept Lane on a tight rein, restricting them to just 132 with Davin Charleston the top scorer on 25.

It should have been a comfortable target but a stunning nine-over spell of 1-6 from Neil Britton put Burley behind the clock.

After 20 overs they had still only managed 31-2 and were soon struggling at 60-4.

But the tail staged a recovery and, with Jamie Davey hitting 28, they finally got home by three wickets with 2.1 overs to spare.

Bilton may now be in the second tier of the Aire-Wharfe League but Burley will not be able to take them lightly.

They are storming towards promotion and were cup winners for three years in a row from 2004.

Having hit 239-8, which included 49 by Jonathan Leggett and 34 from Phil Timmens, Kirkstall Educational were then dismissed for 159 as dangerman Phil Timmens picked up 4-11.
