Herschelle Gibbs has spoken of his "frustration" after Yorkshire’s Friends Provident Twenty20 campaign came to an end over the weekend.
The Tykes' elimination from the competition means that the South African’s time with the county is up and he will now return to the southern hemisphere.
"We showed at times what a good team we are," said Gibbs after his farewell appearance at Derby.
"It is disappointing because this team are more than talented enough to get to the quarter-finals."
The opener has been one of the stars for the Tykes in a disappointing Twenty20 campaign, scoring 443 runs from his 15 games – the 11th highest total in the whole tournament.
However his involvement for Yorkshire this season was ended on Friday night, when Northamptonshire won to end their chances of progressing.
That disappointment may well have been the reason for their lacklustre display against Nottinghamshire yesterday.
Once more the batting was the problem.
After winning the toss and making their hosts field, they only made 112-7 from their 20 overs.
Lee Hodgson, one of two players making their Twenty20 debuts, deserves praise for his 39, but, apart from his innings, only two other players, including Gibbs, made it into double figures.
Samit Patel, who made 40, and David Hussey, who struck an entertaining 37, then comfortably led Nottinghamshire to the victory target of only 113 with 26 balls to spare.
As for Gibbs, he will now leave Yorkshire, but has confirmed that "he would love to be back in the future."
One man who has not left the county yet is the Tykes’ other overseas player.
Clint McKay has been called up as cover to the Australian squad for the second test against Pakistan, which starts at Headingley on Wednesday.
