Premier Division leaders Wrenthorpe remain on course for a trophy double.
Already holding a 14-point advantage over Methley, they booked a place in the Heavy Woollen Cup final.
Former Yorkshire and Pudsey St Lawrence all-rounder Gary Fellows hit 169 in the semi-final victory at Skelmanthorpe to take his total runs in this season’s competition to 437.
Fellows will be a real danger to final rivals Hanging Heaton, who assured themselves a place in this season’s showpiece – being played on their own ground – with a win at Shepley, the quarter-final conquerors of Birstall. Old rivals Birstall and Liversedge face an important Division One clash at Leeds Road on Saturday.
Liversedge have been something of a yo-yo side in recent years but Birstall find themselves in the unaccustomed position of battling relegation for the first time in recent memory.
An eight-wicket defeat at home to Wakefield St Michaels leaves Stewart Clifton’s side in third-bottom spot with 20 points, six ahead of Liversedge and eight more than bottom club Ossett.
Connor Williams (41) was again on form for Birstall but he became one of Michael Carroll’s five victims in a modest total of 156.
Liversedge are still looking for their first outright win after a nine-wicket defeat at the hands of Wrenthorpe. Victory at Birstall would be a good place to start.
In Division One, a disappointing two-wicket defeat by East Leeds effectively killed off Buttershaw St Pauls’ hopes of making a late promotion bid.
