Haworth Road went two points above Denholme in the Bradford Evening League clash between second and third in Division One.

Rob Weir top scored for Denholme with 22 in their disappointing total of 96-6.

However it did not go all the home side’s way and they were rocking at 55-6 in reply. It needed the calm nerve of skipper Charlie Hainsworth (22no) to see them to a three-wicket win.

They are now two points behind leaders Thornton, who returned to winning ways in emphatic style.

Greg Soames (51no) and Josh Dimblebly (38) were the backbone of their side’s impressive 145-5 total.

Despite Scott Hetherington’s unbeaten 46, Windhill were never really in the hunt and their innings finished on 117-5.

An opening partnership of 110 between Chris Brown (51no) and Johnny Waddington (50) saw Allerton overhaul Indian Panthers’ total of 135-4 with the loss of just one wicket.

In a very tight game at Bingley Congs, visitors Baildon Meths won by one run to claim their second victory of the season.

The race for the Division Two title seems to be between joint leaders Calverley St Wilfrid’s and John Breare and third-placed HSA.

With John Breare having to play both teams, the destination of the title could be determined by their results.

They won at a canter against a much-weakened Shelf, who were bowled out for a miserable 18.

Calverley enjoyed similar success as Mick Ward (49), Steve Alred (40) and Paul Coates (42) piled up the runs in a decent score of 168-3.

Steve Coup then completed the job, weighing in with 3-22 as Cambing were dismissed for 47.

Nassir Kamal hit a half-century in HSA’s total of 144-5. Beaten Bolton Villas were then restricted to 119-8.

Tong Park Esholt claimed the points with an 18-run victory at Mayfield, while Sandy Lane emerged five-wicket winners at home to Crossflatts.
