Yorkshire are chasing a target of 200 to win from a minimum of 37 overs against Warwickshire at Headingley.
An eighth-wicket partnership of 75 between unbeaten centurion Rikki Clarke and Imran Tahir, who hit a crucial 41 for his side, frustrated Yorkshire through the afternoon session.
But Steve Patterson took two of the last three wickets, including Jim Troughton, to at least give themselves a chance of victory.
The wickets to fall in the afternoon session were those of Neil Carter, Imran, Boyd Rankin and Troughton, who batted at No 11 after retiring hurt yesterday.
Adil Rashid finished with 5-137 from 39 overs and Patterson 3-25 from 15.3.
