The Bradford League First Division's joint leading wicket-taker goes head to head with the leading run-scorer when Pudsey Congs host Morley for the second time this season.

Mark Bray has been a central figure with the ball in Congs' 100 per cent start to the league as they bid to regain their title, picking up 15 wickets.

But the surprise package with the bat has been Morley's Ed Galek, who tops the scoring charts with 217 runs.

The 22-year-old demonstrated his potential with an unbeaten 40 which secured victory over Baildon in the penultimate game of last season.

That innings went a long way to securing safety for Morley and the youngster has continued where he left off at the start of this campaign with three knocks in the 70s.

Congs skipper Matthew Doidge is not surprised at the form of Bray but is hoping his batsmen will get more chance to express themselves.

Of the right-arm medium pacer, he said: "The pitches are quite helpful to his style of bowling at this time of year but you've still got to put the ball in the right place.

"We haven't got many batting points but that's because we've bowled too well to get any."

Congs and Morley were the only sides to post victories last week in the two games to beat the weather.

Bray was instrumental in Pudsey's win at Woodlands, taking six for 35 as the hosts were skittled for just 99.

It was a vital win against the reigning champions, for whom Richard Pyrah has also taken 15 wickets, especially as other sides were frustrated by the weather.

Yet despite being the only side with four straight wins, Congs still trail Pudsey neighbours St Lawrence, who still earned ten points in their abandoned match against East Bierley.

"There are more points available with the new system," said Doidge.

Morley will be hoping to build on their first league win at bottom side Keighley last week but have already lost by 37 runs at Congs in the Priestley Cup this season.

Skipper Dave Nebard said: "We understand the challenge ahead of us but we did okay in the cup. We have a good team spirit and work hard as a unit."

They will be hoping overseas player Shehzad Butt can have a big impact against his former side.

"He's come from a successful team to one that is progressing and he is up for the challenge," added Nebard.

Elsewhere, the clash to watch out for at the top of the table is between promoted Brighouse and leaders Pudsey St Lawrence.

Free-scoring Lawrence have amassed the most number of batting points (15) while hosts Brighouse have won two out of their opening four games since joining the top flight.
