Bradford leg-spinner Adil Rashid has been called into England’s 16-man Test squad for their tour of the Caribbean next month.
The 20-year-old Yorkshire ace, from Heaton, is one of three spinners, joining Graeme Swann and the out of form Monty Panesar.
Rashid recently travelled with the squad to India, but only made the trip to gain experience of the highest stage.
“Obviously I am absolutely delighted,” said Rashid, just hours after being informed of his inclusion today.
“To be selected in an England Test squad is a dream come true.
“The trip to India was most useful for me because I got the opportunity to see what it was all about, practising with the likes of Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff.”
There is no place for Rashid’s Yorkshire team-mate Michael Vaughan.
