Former Yorkshire director of cricket David Byas has revealed that he is currently considering whether to apply for the new first-team coach’s job at Lancashire.
The left-handed batsman spent the 2002 season at Old Trafford – his last campaign as a player – but returned to Headingley as coach in 2004.
Due to internal politics, Byas left his position of director of cricket in early 2007.
“It is something (the Lancashire job) that I have considered, and something that I will carry on considering, but I have not yet applied,” said the 45 year-old (pictured).
“I wouldn’t apply for every job in professional cricket, but considering where Lancashire is – a northern county – I may well do.”
Byas struck up a good relationship with Lancashire’s new director of cricket Mike Watkinson, who was cricket manager at the time.
“I wish my time there had been longer than it was, and maybe even sooner in my career,” Byas added.
