PUDSEY Congs are harking back to their pomp with the news that they will stage the Priestley Cup final on Sunday, August 13.

Congs, in the top flight of the Gordon Rigg Bradford Premier League for the first time in six years, have won the three previous finals that they have hosted at the Amber Cars Britannia Ground - in 2004, 2005 and 2007.

That final 16 years ago was the last time their Intake Road ground held the final.

The award of staging the Bradford League’s showpiece is partly down to the way that they hosted last season’s Jack Hampshire Cup final between Buttershaw St Paul’s and Heckmondwike & Carlinghow.

That secondary competition will this season go to East Bierley on Sunday, August 20.

Yeadon, who have worked hard to improve their ground and facilities, will host the Priestley Shield final for the first time – on Sunday, September 3.

New Farnley, venue last season for both the Priestley Cup and Heavy Woollen Cup showdowns, will stage the Area Final of the ECB Clubs T20 Cup on Sunday, August 6.

There Woodlands will compete against the T20 champions of the North East Premier League, North Yorkshire & South Durham League and Yorkshire Premier League North.

The Bradford League’s T20 Group A Cup finals day will be at Bradford & Bingley for the second successive year - on Sunday, July 30.

The Group B finals day, again featuring two semi-finals and a final, will be held at Hunslet Nelson for the first time on Sunday, July 2.
