Under-pressure Bradford Central League First Division leaders Hepworth & Idle, who in recent weeks have seen their advantage whittled away to just one point, stopped their miserable run yesterday by recording (90-4) a six-wicket win at Wibsey Park Chapel, who had been dismissed for 86 (Craig Green 4-27).

Meanwhile, closest rivals BT (Bradford) (145, Shumail Khan 5-25) slipped to a ten-run defeat at home to form side Salem Athletic (155, Ajmal Ali 61).

The Westfield Lane side have therefore extended their lead to seven points.

Girlington (201, Manzar Naqui 51) maintained third position, ten points adrift of top spot, with a 47-run win at Norwood Green, who replied with 154.

Great Horton Church (157-4, Mohammed Zahid 59) had a six-wicket win at basement boys Thornbury, who had been dismissed for 153 (Syed Shah 5-25).

There were some fun and games at Allerton, where the homesters wracked up 295 for six in a game that was restricted to 42 overs-per-side.

Masood Zaman (74) and Faisal Rashid (67 not out) were highly instrumental in over 150 runs coming from the last ten overs. In reply, Laisterdyke were dismissed for 166.

In the Second Division, the highlight of the day came at Salem Athletic (292-7), where the two Yasirs, Shazad and Mir, dominated proceedings for the home side.

The added 178 for the third wicket, Shazad hitting a massive unbeaten 174 and Mir 75. Winlesss BT (Bradford) were then dismissed for just 92.

The match of the day between leaders Great Horton Church and second-placed Thornbury proved a damp squib.

Visitors Thornbury made just 54, Great Horton knocking those off for the loss of four wickets.

Following the defeat of Thornbury, Hepworth & Idle (250) are up to second spot following their 110-run win over Wibsey Park Chapel (140), Malcolm Kershaw hitting 77 for the winners.
