Gomersal and Esholt were the day's big losers as the JCT600 Bradford League Division Two promotion race reached the five games to go marker.

With their tough run-in, there is pressure on fifth-placed Esholt to win at home to sixth-placed Bankfoot next Saturday if they are to stay in the picture.

Apart from that, Esholt also have a trip to Keighley (currently fourth) on August 18 and entertain Morley (currently second) on the last day of their season on September 8.

Bilal Hussain (4-33 and 65 not out) was the match-winner for Lightcliffe at Esholt.

He sliced through Esholt's tail in their total of 148 and then hit four sixes and six fours as the visitors won by six wickets in only 37.4 overs.

Esholt are 34 points off that second promotion place but even third-placed Gomersal are 21 points adrift of it after their defeat at Spen Victoria.

Top scorer in the visitors' 134 was opener Richard Gould with 24 as Spen's six bowlers all returned tidy figures, none more so than off-spinner James Finch, who took three for 17 off nine overs.

Spen didn't find things easy either but a stand of 70 for the third wicket between opener Matt Speck (47) and Stuart Cope (41) just gave them the edge and they got home by two wickets with five balls to spare.

Bradley Drake (4-26) caused problems at the beginning and end of Spen's innings.

Leaders Yeadon showed how to chase a total after dismissing visitors Great Horton for 151.

Five batsmen made over 20 for Great Horton but none of them reached 30 as Steve Cobley (4-40), Andrew Robertson (2-21) and Grant Soames (2-37) got to work.

Robertson hit an unbeaten 83 and James Todd 52 not out as Yeadon triumphed by ten wickets in only 27 overs.

Robertson hit 15 fours and Todd seven, the New Zealander reaching his half-century in 69 balls and Todd doing likewise in 78 deliveries.

Morley also capitalised on Gomersal's defeat but theirs was a nerve-jangling affair at home to bottom club Hartshead Moor.

Matthew Taylor (45 not out) carried his bat in Morley's 138 but he wasn't the top scorer.

That honour went to No 3 Shoaib Khan with his 47, and opener Michael Cooper also made 28. However, from a high-water mark of 106 for one, Morley lost their last nine wickets for only 32, Trent Otto taking four for 14 and James Marshall four for 64.

The key to Hartshead Moor's innings was dismissing opener Craig Field.

He had scored 70 out of 119 when he was seventh out and, with only Graham Hilton (17) at No 7 also making double figures, their effort fell just seven runs short at 131.

Opening bowler James Russell took four for 45 for the relieved home side.

Keighley's all-round bowling attack helped them stay in the promotion picture.

Off-spinner Richard Robinson was the fifth bowler used but came away with the best figures, taking three for six off 4.3 overs as Windhill were bowled out for 117.

Fellow spinner Andy Coppen bagged three for 30, overseas player Greg Kennedy two for 23 and Paul Quinlan two for 21.

Daniel Walton was top scorer for Windhill with 23, but they made a slightly better impression with the ball as Keighley won by six wickets in 30.5 overs. Stuart Ratcliffe was 45 not out.

Bankfoot added to Undercliffe's poor season, defeating them by three wickets despite a collapse with the winning post in sight.

Andrew Duckworth hit 77 and Ben Heritage 49 in Undercliffe's 191 for seven, adding 132 for the third wicket, but Ashfaq Ahmed scored 80 for Bankfoot and Simon Curry 51 and they added 112 for their third wicket.
