Woodlands are quivering with anticipation over their Black Sheep Yorkshire Champions' Trophy semi-final at Barnsley on Sunday.

Barnsley have slipped to second in the Oxbridge ECB Yorkshire League behind York but it is a clash that JCT600 Bradford League leaders Woodlands are relishing.

"The players are all looking forward to it, as are our spectators," said Woodlands' league representative Phil Godfrey.

"Apart from it being a Bradford League v Yorkshire League contest - and we are conscious of representing the Bradford League - it also gives us the chance to make up for what happened in the Heavy Woollen Cup final two years ago."

Holders Woodlands looked set for victory at Liversedge, chasing Barnsley's 168 for seven, but lost their last five wickets for two runs to lose by 18 runs.

Godfrey said: "Barnsley have Alex Morris (formerly of Hanging Heaton) and Simon Widdup but we are a better side than we were in 2005 and Barnsley will have to play very well to beat us. We are very confident."

The only drawback for Woodlands is that their second team have a Crowther Cup semi-final tomorrow at Keighley, which will be overshadowed by the contest at Shaw Lane.

The other Black Sheep semi-final is also tomorrow, with Mewies Solicitors Craven League outfit Oakworth being given ground advantage by Pudsey Congs because the latter club are staging the Dales Council League's Pool Paper Mills Cup final.

Godfrey said: "I don't know much about Oakworth. I only know of one of their players, and that is Michael Scarborough, but I can't see anything other than a Congs victory."

The Solly Sports Heavy Woollen Cup final is also on Sunday between Wickersley and Wrenthorpe at Hanging Heaton CC (noon).
