Revitalised Spen Victoria have a score to settle at home to their local rivals Gomersal on Saturday.

The Cleckheaton side thought they had got one over their neighbours in a ding-dong battle earlier in the season.

But needing four to win off the last ball, experienced wicket-keeper Matt Garside stepped up to the plate for Gomersal with a boundary to leave Spen distraught.

Though they bounced back with a surprise win over Morley in the next game, they then had to wait another six weeks for their next victory.

It looked as if Spen might be heading for the wooden spoon but recent triumphs over Undercliffe and Windhill have lifted them to just five points off third-from-bottom.

A team very much in transition, much depends on whe-ther all-rounder Chris Elstub fires and he has done of late, scoring 47 and taking three for 25 against Undercliffe and hitting 55 not out against Windhill last week.

Gomersal will be keen to get back to winning ways after losing their first game in 13 to leaders Yeadon last week.

That saw them drop to third and swap places with Morley, who have won their last four completed games ahead of Saturday's home game against bottom club Hartshead Moor.

Yeadon showed their strength in depth with last week's big win coming despite the loss of three first-teamers, including skipper Dave Leather.

They will fancy their chances at home to unpredictable Great Horton, who lost to Esholt last week. Richard Whitehurst's move down the order worked as he hit 43 not out and his side can get back in the mix at home to Light-cliffe.

Fifth-placed Keighley entertain out-of-form Windhill.
