MOHAMMED Siraj struck a fine half-century as Salem eased into the second round of the Sir James Roberts Cup with a four-wicket win over Great Horton Church.
Church batted first and scored 222-7 thanks to Mohammed Bilal (86) and Meseum Nisar (65) as Majid Ur Rahman took 5-23. Salem scored 223-6 in reply, with Siraj hitting 74.
Salem will next visit Yorkshire LPS, who beat Allerton by 76 runs.
LPS scored 250 all out as Ali Ghazanfer made 42. Allerton responded with 174 as Nabeel Nawaz hit 64 and Tariq Rashid 42. Ghazanfer completed a fine all-round performance by taking 5-27 for LPS.
Defending champions Girlington beat Muff Field by 90 runs.
Girlington scored an impressive 309-5, with skipper Musawar Shah whacking 189 and Zafar Ali 60. In reply, Ian Slattery scored an unbeaten 64 as Muff Field could only make 219-6.
Girlington will visit Bradford Moor, who beat league debutants Denholme Clough by four wickets.
Clough batted first and were bowled out for 67 in 19.5 overs, Abdul Hamid taking 6-31 and Kabeer Hussain 4-4.
Bradford Indians beat Bradford Gymkhana by three wickets.
Gymkhana were all out for 76 in 28 overs, with Mohammed Asif taking 4-21. In reply, Bradford Indians scored 79-7 in 29.4 overs as Nazam Hussain took 5-17.
Bradford Indians will next host Mayfield A, who progressed after Great Horton Meths conceded as they were unable to raise a team.
