Cricketers were left frustrated in the Craven League as not one ball was bowled in anger.

Saturday saw the halfway stage in the season and there are one or two surprises in the five divisions.

In the First Division, Thornton - who have recruited well during the close season - sit on top, two points clear of surprise packet, newly- promoted Crossflatts.

On the same points of Crossflatts are Cullingworth, who missed the chance of going top when their top-of-the-table clash with Thornton was washed out.

Champions Oakworth are five points off the pace at the moment, while Haworth are surprisingly languishing just above the relegation places.

Barrowford, looking to go back up at the first attempt, head the Second Division by six points from Airedale. Just a point behind the Keighley side are Cononley, who for the past few years have always been below halfway in the table.

Another side wanting to bounce straight back up are Pendle Forest, who head the Third Division by five points from Wilsden, who have never been so high since joining the League.

As things stand at the moment the leaders of the Fifth Division, Haworth WE II, could not go up because of the plight of the first team. However, Cullingworth II will be looking to climb one more place before the season ends.

None of the scheduled games in the Wynn and Cowling cups were able to start and most games will take place this Sunday.

Oakworth's Black Sheep Yorkshire Champions Trophy game against Treeton was also washed out and has provisionally been arranged for Sunday, July 15.
