Atiba Allert, Pool's West Indian strike bowler, is spearheading his side's bid for glory in the top flight of the Aire-Wharfe League.

Allert, who topped the league bowling averages last term by taking 83 wickets at an average of just over 11, collected his third six-wicket haul of the season as Pool defeated Collingham by four wickets to climb up to fourth place.

The Arthington Lane side had Collingham all out for 140, Allert taking six for 42 and Phil Dibb removing the other four batsmen. Middle-order man John Goldthorp then made an unbeaten 27 in the successful runs chase.

Otley moved up a place to seventh after taking four points from their drawn game with visitors Green Lane, whose last-wicket pair held out for ten overs. Sam Smith hit a half-century as Otley posted 167 for eight but Steve Hargreaves shone for Green Lane, taking four for 37 and then making a stubborn 37.

Steeton remain at the foot of the table after a five-wicket defeat against Adel, who are the new leaders. Gary Boulton made a brave 43 not out for Steeton but a half-century by Stuart Howie helped Adel to victory.

Burley's triumph by 41 runs saw Beckwithshaw knocked off their perch at the summit despite a six-wicket haul from leg-spinner Ben Quick. Nick Brook made a half-century for Burley and Australian Joel Wylie also played his part by taking five wickets.

Guiseley lead DIVISION TWO by eight points from Silsden and Rawdon after Harden lost second place. Guiseley's David Pennett took seven for 16 in 12.2 overs in helping to oust Harden for 74 and the visitors won by four wickets.

Yasar Ali made 35 and grabbed five wickets for Silsden in their winning draw at New Rover, for whom opener Michael Richmond hit 71 not out and Faisal Chaudary grabbed five for 30.

Rawdon, meanwhile, defeated visitors Upper Wharfedale by 127 runs, half-century makers Simon Wilson and Chris Boden figuring in a second-wicket stand worth 88. Aussie Nick Williams took five for 21 and Denis Rock three for 16 as the Dalesmen struggled to 101 all out in 32 overs.

Rock-bottom Calverley managed a winning draw at Tong Park, despite a six-for-38 performance from off-spinner Steve Young. Julian Thornhill top-scored for Calverley with 44.

Number three bat Jamie Simpson crawled to a patient 35 not out, facing 200 balls, as Hall Park held out for a losing draw against Knaresborough, but Horsforth lost by five wickets at Bardsey.

Olicanian shot to the top of DIVISION THREE after Bernard Hughes took seven for 22 to help shoot out Bolton Villas for just 38 as his side won by ten wickets.

Mark Fellows' half-century was not enough to rescue Illingworth from a five-wicket defeat at Skipton, for whom Andrew Fergie was the best bowler with four for 34.

Mahir Ali ripped through Colton's batsmen, taking six for 17 in 11 hostile overs in Thackley's 79-run victory. Colton were sent back for just 52.

Nick Smith took eight wickets for Ben Rhydding but they lost by 128 runs at Ilkley - while Menston's South African off-spinner Abe Smith also finished on the losing side, despite taking six for 28 against Alwoodley.
