Mirfield Parish Cavaliers and Birstall still have much ground to make up on the top three in the Central Yorkshire League Premier Division but victories over Wakefield City and Ossett respectively just about keeps them in the title race.

Parish hammered 234 for nine off bottom club Wakefield. Iqbal Khan (63) and skipper Dave Jackson (52) both made half centuries then Mohammed Shanawaz turned up the heat with the ball to finish with an excellent seven for 54 return that left the visitors all out on 141.

Birstall, having made 188 for eight, with leading run-maker Connor Williams (71) in good form, bowled home side Ossett out for 133, with former Hanging Heaton stalwart John Carruthers (4-35) and skipper Danny Busfield (4-40) securing the maximum point tally that moved them into joint fourth place.

The relegation battle between Liversedge and Carlton never managed to beat the weather, leaving them with just two points apiece, while in Division One the contest between the two former Bradford Central League sides saw runaway leaders Northowram Fields maintain the pace when they hit 231 against visiting Buttershaw St Paul's - despite a fine five for 78 return from spinner Gurdev Singh - and then bowled them out for 196.

Rob Larner was in superb form for Northowram with 109 not out, then Matthew Rushworth (5-50) did the damage wiith the ball to leave their side 12 points clear of second-placed Altofts. Moorlands lost second place when they went down by three wickets at Wakefield St Michaels.
