Thornton failed to capitalise on a good bowling performance and slipped to a 19-run defeat against Warley in the Halifax League.
The visitors were put in to bat and were bowled out for 164, with Thornton youngster Ben Harris taking three for 33 and skipper Greg Soames four for 36, but they were all out for 145 in reply.
The second team were away at Oxenhope and after winning the toss put the hosts in to bat on a wet wicket.
Martin Carnall finished with four for 38 and Bob Ashley three for 12 as Oxenhope were bowled out for 168.
Thornton comfortably reached their target, finishing on 172 for four, opener Dave Holmes leading the way with 69.
