Birstall avenged their recent league defeat at home to New Farnley with a 36-run victory in their Jack Hampshire Memorial Trophy second-round tie and now face a home quarter-final with Wakefield City.
After losing in the league to champions Wrenthorpe the previous day, half-centuries from Connor Williams and Vikram Rathour got Birstall off to a good start and, though Peter Petricola pegged them back with four for 34, their total of 193 was to prove too much.
Though having problems bowling sides out at times, the Birstall attack were on song with Paul Blakeley (3-25) and Rob McFarlane (4-20) reducing the West Leeds side to 115 for nine.
A last-wicket stand of 42 between Nicky Johnson and Brett Cooper was ended when skipper Danny Busfield had Johnson caught by Williams.
Mirfield Parish Cavaliers also slipped up in the league, losing to high-scoring Methley by 114 runs - John Inglis (124) and John Proud (92) hitting a second successive 200-run opening stand. They bounced back in the cup to crush Batley by 104 runs after Ibra Latif (78) and Iqbal Khan (56) had helped them to 252 for eight.
Premier Division new boys Liversedge crashed out of the cup as Scott Hadnum hammered 114 not out in hosts Northowram's 286 for four before Liversedge were bowled out for 184.
First Division Northowram, the only non-Premier Division survivors, visit Ossett while Methley and Wrenthorpe contest the remaining quarter-final tie.
