Yorkshire Phoenix will have their first opportunity to query umpires' decisions tomorrow when they take on Derbyshire Phantoms in the televised Friends Provident Trophy day-night match at Derby.
But the new three-referrals regulation which applies to televised games in this season's competition has not gained the whole-hearted approval of Yorkshire's director of cricket Martyn Moxon.
The batting side is now entitled to challenge up to three umpiring decisions in its innings and each referral will then be adjudicated upon by the third umpire after watching replays on a television screen.
"I cannot say that I agree with this regulation, I think it is poor," said Moxon, a former Yorkshire captain.
"It can make things awkward for the umpires in the field and the one in the box and I am not in favour of it.
"If it is here, however, than we have got to use it, but I would still prefer the two umpires in the middle to be in control."
Phoenix's mission today is to achieve the first of a hat-trick of Friends Provident Trophy victories.
They must then go on to beat Durham Dynamos at Headingley Carnegie on Sunday before despatching Northamptonshire Steelbacks in their final North Conference game if they are to stand any hope of making it through to the semi-final draw.
The defeats by Leicester-shire Foxes and Lancashire Lightning and the two wash-outs against Worcestershire Royals and Warwickshire Bears have left them struggling in mid-table and Moxon admits they have now got it all to do.
"We must win all three of our remaining matches and hope that other results also go for us," he said.
"I am not a lover of shortened games and I hope that the weather allows us to get in a full game at Derby."
Yorkshire and England fast bowler, Matthew Hoggard, who missed the Headingley Test because of a thigh injury, has now had his hopes dashed of making a comeback for Baildon against Pudsey St Lawrence on Saturday.
Hoggard had intending playing for the Bradford League side if he had come through a short bowling session at Headingley today, which was being monitored by Yorkshire physiotherapist Scott McAllister.
But Moxon said: "Matthew was still feeling the injury a bit and there are no immediate plans for him to play in a match."
Hoggard has an extra incentive to return for the third Test against West Indies at Old Trafford as he will be able to renew his friendship with South African Allan Donald. The pair played together for Free State in Sin the late 1990s.
"I know for a fact that the England bowlers will enjoy working with him but if we're not doing our job properly, he'll let us know in no uncertain terms," he said.
Yorkshire wicketkeeper-batsman Gerard Brophy is still recovering from a chipped knuckle bone and his situation will be re-assessed on Sunday before he starts full-scale practising again.
Yorkshire Phoenix: White, Rudolph, McGrath, Younus Khan, Gale, Pyrah, Bresnan, Guy, Gough, Gillespie, Kruis, Wainwright.
