Of the three leading clubs in the Bradford Central League First Division, both Allerton and Great Horton Church maintained their 100 per cent records yesterday.
However, Hepworth & Idle dropped their first point of the season and at least one perfect record will go next weekend when Allerton face Great Horton Church.
Allerton (172-8) had a narrow two-wicket win at winless Laisterdyke (168), where Yasir Abbass hit an unbeaten 83 to see the visitors home.
Great Horton Church (190) were involved in another close game at home against Thornbury - another team looking for their first points.
However, Thornbury (167, Qadir Kaliq 50) lost by 23 runs. For Great Horton, Mohammed Abrar hit an unbeaten 74, the prolific Kaleem Afzal returning five for 39 for the visitors.
Hepworth & Idle recovered from 34 for four at home to Wibsey Park Chapel, where Nick Wood (56) was among the runs again.
But the sparks really flew when Wood's younger brother Dale (40 not out) and Sean McEvoy (44 not out) blasted 64 runs from the last four overs to boost the home side's total to an impressive 247 for seven. In reply, Park Chapel hung on for a point at 154 for nine.
Girlington (165, Sajed Parvez 58) collected six points in a close finish at home to Norwood Green, who replied with 152.
An even closer call occurred at Salem Athletic (124), who fell by just six runs at home to BT (Bradford) (130). S Khan (6-28) and Arfan Hussain (4-14) were unfortunate for the home side, Umar Khatab taking five for 21 for the visitors.
In an increasingly competitive Second Division, the top two of Laisterdyke and Thornbury both lost.
Laistedyke (142) were defeated by 62 runs at Allerton (204), for whom Dale Fawcett hit 79.
Thornbury (188) lost by just five runs at home to Great Horton Church (193), Umar Ahmed (85 not out) being agonisingly stranded for the homesters, who only batted with ten men.
