Spen Victoria go into Saturdays's Bradford League Division Two local derby at Gomersal boosted by the arrival of off-spinner James Finch.
The Yorkshire second-team player, formerly with Esholt, makes his debut for the Cleckheaton side who are third from bottom after just missing out on promotion last year.
It has been a frustrating start for new skipper Sam Anderson, whose side lost on the penultimate ball last week to Bankfoot and were also beaten by one wicket against Hartshead Moor. But he has been encouraged by the start some of his younger players have made.
Fifteen-year-old opener Callum Geldart has already got a half-century under his belt, while 17-year-old left-arm seamer Jonathan Rudge has impressed with the new ball.
The introduction of younger players is part of a longer term plan to stop the huge turnover of players at the club over the last few years. Anderson said: "It has been a big problem. Only three players - myself, Chris Elstub and Matthew Speck - are here from last season, while the year before there was only Chris. We are trying to reverse that trend."
Elstub is once again Spen's key man, with Anderson saying: "His batting just gets better every year. He must be one of the best all-rounders in the league."
