The Gordon Bowers Under-12 Eight-A-Side junior competition, which has just started its Silver Jubilee season, are contemplating their first change of age group.
Competition organiser Tom Priestley said: "When the Gor-don Bowers started, the intention was for it to be an introduction to the game for young people.
"It has certainly fulfilled that purpose over the years but times have changed, particularly with the advent of under-11 cricket.
"The committee have discussed the possibility of re-ducing the age group in future years to under-ten on Septem-ber 1 the previous year."
Priestley added: "By reducing the age group, it may help clubs to introduce younger people to the game, and it is felt that by playing at under-tens we would be fulfilling our original intention.
"We would like to get the feelings of all junior clubs on this possible change and we would ask you to take this back to your clubs and discuss the matter.
"To get feedback it would be appreciated if clubs contact either myself on 01274-872942 or secretary Joan Peel (01274-634581), simply stating which age group they would prefer.
"Clubs should contact us giving their decision by June 30, but rest assured that whatever age group we decide to use in 2008, the competition will continue."
This year 37 clubs are taking part with five groups of five and two groups of six.
New clubs are Colton, New Farnley and Cross Roads-Daisy Hill, while returning to the fold are Burley, Morley, Esholt and Great Horton Church.
