For the first time this season, the weather played a significant hand in the outcome of matches in the JCT600 Bradford League yesterday.

While Woodlands could only get two points from an abandoned match at home to Farsley, leaders East Bierley were making it five wins from five with an 11-run victory over Manningham Mills in a 25 overs-a-side thrash.

Bierley made 133 for nine, Lee Goddard continuing his fine start to the season with 33, and Mills replied with 122 for seven.

Asif Hussain backed up his three-for-24 effort with the ball with 52, and added 97 for Mills' third wicket with Amar Rashid (40) but Jaffer Nazir's five for 52 made the difference for Bierley.

That victory lifted them 14 points clear of defending champions Woodlands, who they meet next month.

Pudsey St Lawrence remain third despite being unable to finish their home match against Cleckheaton.

Mark Robertshaw (40), Alex Stead (30) and Tom Stray (27) got Saints off to a good start in their 154 for nine off 48 overs and the visitors were 103 for four in reply off 22 overs when rain stopped play, Mohammad Zaman making 30 and Ian Nicholson 29.

Fourth-placed Baildon only trail St Lawrence by a point now and Pudsey Congs are up to fifth after a 15-run triumph at Idle.

Opener Afaq Raheem hit 60 for Congs in their 162 for seven off 30 overs, Andy Bairstow weighing in with 30, and Idle replied with 147 for eight, overseas player Dilhara hitting 43 and the reliable Paul Cummins 35 as they were pressurised by Elliott Wilson's wickets.

He took four for 59 off eight overs but more interesting was that Tom Glover was removed from the attack by umpire Tom Sayer for persistently running down the wicket on his follow through'.

Bowling Old Lane at least had the luxury of batting for almost 50 overs at home to Saltaire.

Old Lane, as is their way this season, again showed their lower-order batting potential in reaching 131.

Imran Mirza was top scorer with 27 but Adil Islam took the bowling honours for the visitors with six for 41 after accurate stints from Imran Arif and Mansha Khan.

Saltaire were 54 for one but finished on 86 for five as rain ended their innings after 17 overs. Opener Wasim Munawar made 34 and Khurram Maqsood 21.

There was no play between Bradford & Bingley and Hanging Heaton at Wagon Lane.
