Yorkshire reached 43 for one on a cheerless opening day to their three-day match against Loughborough UCCE at Headingley Carnegie before bad light and then rain prevented any further play.
Light rain delayed the start until 4.30pm and then, after 18.2 overs had been bowled, the light became too poor to continue, captain Andrew Gale surviving three chances to end unbeaten on 16 and Andrew Lyth on four.
Gale and Matthew Wood had made a watchful start against Steven Wheeler and Tom Parsons and only 15 runs came off the first ten overs, the one boundary shot resulting from Wood's cover drive against Wheeler.
He then pulled the same bowler for another four and Gale accelerated his score with two boundaries in an over from Parsons.
Gale had made 12 when he edged Parsons and was dropped at first slip by Richard Malcolm, with Loughborough going on to make their first bowling change at 32 when Jonathan Hughes replaced Wheeler.
He soon made the breakthrough as Wood, after facing 49 balls for his 23, clipped him to Chris Murtagh at square leg with the score on 39.
Adam Lyth joined Gale, who enjoyed more luck when he was put down on two further occasions by Malcolm at first slip.
