Batley and Methley conjured up a magical finish in the Solly Sports Central Yorkshire League at Mount Pleasant when Methley's Mark Frost (48) was run out off the final ball of the match going for the winning run.

With Batley posting 211 for eight, Mohammed Tahir (43) top-scoring, the visitors were always chasing the game in difficult weather conditions.

Former Farsley and East Bierley opener John Proud was again on form for Methley with 46 but the wickets fell at regular intervals and even Frost's heroics were not enough as that desperate last-ball run attempt failed and left the scores tied.

There was never any doubt about the outcome at Wakefield City, where Birstall's John Carruthers (3-26) and skipper Danny Busfield (3-46) bowled the home side out for 131 on the way to an eight-wicket victory.

Former Hanging Heaton man Vikram Rathour top scored with 56 for Birstall in a match-winning century stand with Rob McFarlane (35).

Leaders Townville crashed to their first defeat of the season when they went down by six wickets to promoted Carlton, despite another fine innings from Tim Walton (56).

Wrenthorpe were shot out for just 72 by Sean Louw (7-28) at in-form New Farnley, and Peter Petricola's unbeaten 47 saw the home side through to a seven-wicket win. There were six ducks in the Wrenthorpe innings.
