Despite the wet weather, Thornton's first team managed to come away with a victory at Booth in the Towergate Halifax League Premier Division, although they were denied maximum points.
The hosts batted first and struggled to 118 for nine, skipper Greg Soames keeping them in check with three for 37.
Thornton's reply was marred by persistent rain and they achieved a reduced target of 70, finishing on 73 for four.
Low Moor won the toss and fielded in their derby against visitors Jer Lane in Division Two.
Lane, who were dismissed for only 98 in 26.1 overs, were expecting to go close to winning the section but after two weeks they may have to re-think their target.
Low Moor's opening duo of Steve Elphee, who took four wickets, and Richard Barker, who took six, bowled superbly on a wicket that was suspect due to poor weather.
Jer Lane recovered from 16 for five and only Chris Ramsden (26), James Nixon (16), and Phil Yeadon (28 not out) managed double figures, all but one of the wickets being caught. Low Moor chased the score down with relative ease, but at 80 for four the rain fell.
Jer Lane, clutching at straws, claimed a draw but the umpires chatted and stayed on, Low Moor going on to complete their victory.
In Thornton's second-team match, Booth, after being put in, reached a creditable 160 for seven after being 77 for six.
However, Thornton's reply was anchored around opener Dave Holmes (80), but with the rain came a flurry of wickets as they tried to win the game quickly. In the end, they reached a reduced target of 150 with six wickets down.
Spinner Paul Garside took four wickets for Jer Lane Seconds as Blackley scored 175 for eight. Billy Payton (49) did well for Jer, and last pair Tim Roache and Karl Laban saw them home.
