Neil Spragg gave Steeton a much needed Division One boost with a fine all-round performance to earn a winning draw against Otley.

After finishing runners-up last season, Steeton made a disappointing start to the new campaign with three successive defeats.

However, they came within one wicket of an outright home victory as stubborn Otley clung on at 148 for nine after Steeton had posted 172 for seven.

Spragg, batting at four, made an inspiring 83 and then took five for 36. Jamie Davies hit an invaluable 40 for the visitors.

Burley all-rounder Joel Wylie, from Melbourne, hit a half-century in a winning draw at Bilton who, like Otley, had their last pair at the wicket when the overs ran out.

Burley made 165 for nine in their allotted overs and Bilton needed 12 to win off the last over, but finished on 160 for nine.

Green Lane suffered their third league defeat in going down by five wickets at home to North Leeds.

Opener Steve Hargreaves made a defiant 60 for Green Lane but Martin Kellaway (73) and Australian Nathan Dufty (5-39) swung the game North Leeds' way.

Pool were seven-wicket winners against Follifoot, who were bowled out for 121.

Rawdon made it four Division Two wins out of four with a ten-wicket thrashing of visitors Bardsey, who lost their 100 per cent record.

Nick Williams, Rawdon's left-arm quick Australian, bowled 14.5 overs, including seven maidens, and took four for 16, while Stewart Dobson claimed four for 38 in 16 overs as Bardsey were shot out for 88.

Skipper Stewart Smith (54 not out) and Simon Wilson (34 not out) then knocked off the runs in 16 overs.

Ian Chaplin's century helped Guiseley to a winning draw at Upper Wharfedale.

Chaplin hit 12 fours and seven sixes in a lusty innings of 121 as Guiseley posted 230, Dave Daggett taking five for 47 for Upper Wharfedale.

Paddy McKenna had five fours and five sixes in his innings of 78 for the Dalesmen, who held on for the draw at 194 for nine. Dave Pennett took five-wickets for Guiseley.

Silsden lost by six wickets at home to Knaresborough, whose match-winner was middle-order batsman James Tattersall with an unbeaten 64.

Calverley, meanwhile, lost to neighbours Horsforth by 34 runs and still await their first league win, despite cup successes against Silsden and Olicanian. Lee Deighton's six for 42 proved vital for Horsforth.

Harden romped to a ten-wicket victory at Hall Park, who could muster only 82, while Tong Park were four-wicket winners against New Rover, opener James Druce making a half-century and bowlers Steve Young and Gareth Wilkinson tying the New Rover batsmen down.

In Division Three, Ilkley recovered from 55 for seven to 96 for nine as they clung on for a losing draw at Skipton, for whom opener Kevin Owens had 11 fours and two sixes in his century.

Skipper David Corcoran (72 not out) guided Olicanian to a nine-wicket win at Thackley, Chris Campbell taking five for 31 for the winners.
