Morley and Lightcliffe could not have had more contrasting starts to the season ahead of their Bradford League Division Two clash at Scatchard Lane on Saturday.

The Leeds club have won their first three games of the season, including victories over well-fancied Undercliffe and Gomersal, while their Halifax opponents are propping up the table after three defeats.

Morley are intent on making a swift return to Division One, having made a raft of quality signings in the summer, including Division Two's highest run-scorer last season Shoaib Khan.

But it was one of the players already at the club who inspired last week's nine-wicket thrashing of Gomersal. Off-spinner Steve Lane took seven for 17 just a week after taking five for 48 against Windhill.

Keighley go into their top-four clash at home to Under-cliffe cock-a-hoop after their shock Priestley Cup victory over East Bierley.

Youngster Max Davison has earned a call-up to the Brad-ford League White Rose team after starring with both bat and ball as his side cruised to a seven-wicket win over the current Division One leaders.

He makes his debut on Sunday against the Huddersfield Central League.

Keighley have made a solid start after being relegated last season but batsman Richard Robinson knows his side will have it tough tomorrow.

"Undercliffe are a very strong side with Simon Kellett and Pete Oldham going back there," he said.

"They have a lot of experience so we'll have to see how our young lads cope."

Meanwhile, Yeadon skipper David Leather is hopeful his side can be among the front-runners after strengthening in the close season.

He said: "There are four of five clubs who are likely to be there or thereabouts. We play Gomersal on Saturday, and then Esholt and Morley in the coming weeks so we'll know more then."
