There have been some terrific Craven League matches and close finishes so far this season but none could possibly match the thriller between Haworth and leaders Oakworth in Division One.

The Cure Hill side went into the match with one of only two 100 per cent records in the section and, batting first, were led to an imposing 250 for five by Michael Scarborough (93), assisted by Joel Gallagher (51) and Graham Rankin (43).

Haworth looked down and out at 118 for six, at which point Damian Rowell opened his shoulders and produced a phenomenal century.

He figured in a 92-run stand, which included 90 from him, and some big hitting - 19 sixes and three fours - took his side to the brink of victory.

With the last pair at the wicket and two runs needed for victory with seven overs to go, Rowell launched another big hit only to be caught just inside the boundary by Oak-worth skipper Nigel Lockley and the points went back across the valley.

Rowell finished on 146 while Richard Godden, who opened the innings, chipped in with 48 as Rankin claimed five for 75 and Scarborough four for 61.

Bradley, the other side with maximum points, travelled to Cullingworth and crashed to an eight-wicket defeat.

Dave Robinson (6-34) set up the win as the visitors slumped to 119 all out, with Gareth Marshall (60) and Steve Welch (50) ensuring there were no hiccups in the run chase.

The win leaves Cullingworth in second spot, a point behind Oakworth, with Bradley third.

Joining the South Craveners on six points are promoted Crossflatts, who entertained Cowling and beat them by five wickets.

Steve Mitchell (50) helped the visitors to 166 and Mick Brooksbank (48) was the foundation stone for the victors.

Also on six points are Thorn-ton, who saw off Glusburn at Booth Bridge Lane.

The home side batted first and slumped to 40 for four before Ashley Giles (37), A Anwar (41) and Jason Lockley (56) helped them to a healthy 215.

The out-of-sorts visitors then crashed to 131 all out, with Anwar taking four for 23 as N Khan top-scored on 30.

Embsay got their first win of the season with an emphatic nine-wicket verdict over Sandy Lane at Shires Lane.

The visitors were dismissed for a modest 114 as skipper Mark Oldfield, batting at nine, offered most resistance with 32 against John Metcalfe (4-30) and Stephen Speak (3-53).

After losing an early wicket ,Simon Bailey (57no) and Duncan Ward (50no) took the hosts to the winning post.

Bingley Congs were another side to open their account, doing so at home to Sutton.

The visitors made 207 for nine thanks to Paul Hardaker (65) but home skipper Andrew Copping then made 78 and Andrew Jennings added 42 to steer Congs home.
