Baildon Meths and Esholt played out a thrilling match in DIVISION ONE of the Bradford Evening League as the visitors emerged victorious by the narrowest of margins.

Danny Atkinson had the Esholt batsmen in trouble as his four wickets left them struggling at 40 for five, before Ben Platt and Richard Whitehurst both made crucial unbeaten knocks of 28 to boost the score to 104 for five.

In reply, the top individual score was 20 extras as Platt showed his all-round prowess with four wickets to leave Baildon 103 for nine at the end of their innings.

Ten-man Windhill were indebted to Luke Holroyd as his half-century enabled them to post a respectable 123 for seven at British Telecom.

Tahir Khan's unbeaten 44 saw BT come close but they ran out of overs as their innings concluded on 111 for six.

Overseas batsmen V Mahajan enjoyed the small boundaries at Shelf as his 50 not out helped Taurus Sports to a commanding 171 for five.

Then, despite a valiant half-century from Shabaz Hussain, the hosts found the total too daunting and their reply ended at 124 for four.

Denholme's game against Thornton was called off as the Hill Top side were unable to raise a team. Denholme were awarded the points, with Thornton being fined and deducted two.

New clubs Sandy Lane and Norwood Green met at the picturesque Wyke ground in DIVISION TWO and pace bowler Mohammed Amin found the wicket to his liking, taking four wickets for a miserly eight runs.

Only Ifthikar Hussain (36) made any score of note in Sandy's total of 80 all out, with Rab Nawaz then making 40 not out as the hosts won by nine wickets in just nine overs.

Fellow league newcomers Haworth Road enjoyed a winning start at Bingley Congs, with Mark Harrison rescuing the visitors from a precarious 44 for five with an unbeaten half-century for a competitive 126 for seven.

Chris Hemsley led the Congs reply with 46 but three wickets apiece for Andrew Gudgeon and Sham Ali restricted them to 104 for nine.

Lee Ashforth (50no) was also in the runs as Low Moor's 131 for five proved too much for Royal Mail, with Craig Smith (34) top-scoring in their reply of 102 for six.

And Wibsey Park Chapel enjoyed a six-wicket win after dismissing John Breare for 72, Paul Artist making 52 not out for the home team.
