YORKSHIRE Academy, aided by an unbeaten 98 off just 43 balls from Jordan Thompson of Pudsey St Lawrence, made a record-breaking debut in the Black Sheep Yorkshire Champions' Trophy.
They played at 2013 winners Hoylandswaine and smashed the competition's highest score of 463-6 in a game with a new aggregate best of 763 runs.
The Academy won the toss and batted, Ryan Gibson (102 off 60 balls) and Elliot Callis (35) setting the tone with a stand of 131 in 14.5 overs.
Gibson hit five sixes and 12 fours and found a willing partner in Mosun Hussain, who struck 127 off 90 deliveries with five sixes and 14 fours.
Hussain added 125 for the fourth wicket with Matthew Waite (56) and Thompson continued the carnage with 11 sixes and six fours.
Hoylandswaine made a spirited reply, despite losing former Bradford League player Alex Morris to the second ball of the innings from Yorkshire paceman Matthew Fisher, as they were all out for 300.
Opener Gharib Nawaz scored 86 from 76 balls and Sarjinder Singh made 38 in a second-wicket partnership of 129.
Veteran wicketkeeper Alan Mynett (73, including five sixes and seven fours) – like Nawaz, a former Bradford League player – and Max Joice (62) produced more fireworks in a match that spectators will remember for years to come.
