GIRLINGTON are still on course to better last season's runners-up berth in the Bradford Mutual Sunday School League's Sir James Roberts Cup.

They moved into the third round with a 92-run victory over Yorkshire Friends after making 221-9 from their 40 overs, Raza Gulzar and Zaheer Hussain each scoring 45.

Musawar Shah then added to his 40 not out by taking 4-35 as Friends were dismissed for 129.

Girlington are now at Omars, who beat Bradford Gymkhana by 51 runs.

Omars made 134, of which Qamar Sadiq scored 58, but Gymkhana could only reply with 83 in 24.1 overs as Shamile Khan took 4-35 and Majid Hussain 3-35.

Holders Bradford Moor defeated Mandhata by four wickets after the latter scored 131, with Hiren Morker hitting 48 and Harshad Taylor 40.

In reply, Zamfa Khan scored 49 in Moor's 135-6, despite all-rounder Morker taking 4-40.

Moor now have a home tie against Cambing, who beat Muff Field by five wickets, Cambing making 99-5 after Muff Field were castled for 94.

VVS Laxman were even more comfortable winners over Bowling Baptists.

Laxman made 182 after being put in, of which Balkrishna Shirke scored exactly half as Sajid Malik took 4-33. Bowling could only muster 70.

Interlink are the next cup visitors for Laxman after a nine-wicket win over Salem Athletic, who made 132 (Younis Bismillah 4-32).

Ismail Adam (62) and Irfan Jamadar (55no) then put on 126 for Interlink's first wicket to almost see them home.
