BUTTERSHAW St Paul's worked hard to get their ground fit for play in the Bradford & District Evening League.
However, their efforts were not rewarded on the field as Mayfield narrowly won the Division Two contest in the only match to beat the rain.
Manzar Shah (69no) was the star man for Mayfield. He retired after making a half-century but came back into bat when nine wickets were down.
His importance was emphasised by the fact that Mohammed Azad (28) was the only team-mate to reach double figures in their 131.
Brothers Elliot (3-21) and Scott Richardson (3-4) were the pick of the home team's bowlers.
In reply, the early loss of destructive batsman Jordan Laban (13) was a blow, but Abubaker Dawood (45) took up the challenge.
Jamie Robson (31no) then took his side to the brink of victory but his efforts were in vain as Buttershaw fell to another narrow defeat, this time by six runs.
