TIM Bresnan’s first first-class hundred since 2007, and the fourth of his career, has helped Yorkshire enjoy a positive second morning against Somerset at Taunton, although their bowlers are yet to make the breakthrough as they defend 438.
Bresnan’s 100 not out off 136 balls helped the champions gain a fifth batting bonus point, having resumed overnight on 345-8.
He shared 92 inside 19 overs for the ninth wicket with Steve Patterson, who was caught behind for 42 off Peter Trego.
Jack Brooks fell the same way to Craig Overton before Somerset openers Marcus Trescothick and Tim Abell reached lunch at 38-0 from ten overs, with the former 24 not out.
If Yorkshire are to win this match, they will have to combat good batting conditions.
