JASON Gillespie is set to stay at Yorkshire.
The 40-year-old Australian now looks likely to be overlooked for the England coach’s job, with morning reports suggesting that another Australian, Trevor Bayliss, is now the front runner.
Bayliss, a former head coach of Sri Lanka and someone with a strong working relationship with Paul Farbrace, is currently in charge of New South Wales.
It is understood that Gillespie, overseeing Yorkshire’s ongoing LV= County Championship match against Somerset at Taunton, is aware of the change in the situation.
Gillespie had been many people’s favourite to replace Peter Moores, having had two positive meetings with ECB director of cricket Andrew Strauss last week.
