BEN Howell was the star of Oakworth's victory over Riddlesden at Grange Road in the Mewies Solicitors Craven League's Cowling Cup for second teams.
First he claimed 5-23 as the home side were dismissed for 152 and the teenager followed this with a fine knock of 80 not out to lead the Cure Hill side into the second round by seven wickets.
At Booth Bridge Lane, Thornton saw off Bradford & Bingley Thirds by 30 runs after making 162-8, with Dave Critchlow taking 4-35. Tim Carrow (49) was the mainstay of the Wagon Laners' 132.
Bradley were too strong for Glusburn as they romped home by eight wickets. The Park Field side made 135-9 as Jack Andrews took 5-41, before Daniel Horne (59) and Harry McGowan (56no) saw the visitors home.
There was a run feast at Windy Grove as Foulridge rattled up 238-9 in their 40 overs, Sam Mitchell claiming 4-41. Wilsden hit back with a superb 241-5, led by Gareth Wright (93no) and Steve Wright (78).
Embsay visited pastures new as they travelled to face Division Four leaders Hepworth & Idle.
The Westfield Laners had first knock and managed 151-8 as Garry Orrell top-scored with 34 not out, assisted by James Bentley (31) and Dave McDermott (24), with Stephen Speak taking 4-22 and Scott Robinson 4-33.
Veteran Brian Hodgson, who finished with 61 not out, and evergreen Alan Pickles (49) put on 90 for the first wicket, which helped them to a match-winning 153-3.
Jodie Town-Jones took 4-37 as Ingrow were dismissed for 128 at the Coliseum. Cowling were then knocked over for 84, with Alan Hayes spinning his way to 4-15.
Bingley Congs made 187-7 at Sutton, with Charlie Raistrick (63no) leading the way. The Royd Hill side made every effort to reach that total but fell agonisingly nine runs short. Glynn Thornton top-scored with 56 as Jonny Teale took 4-41.
Haworth were unable to raise a side, so Long Lee progressed, while Chatburn were eliminated when their first team pulled out of the Wynn Cup, so holders Haworth Road went through.
