GIRLINGTON, runners-up last season, are through to the second round of the Sir James Roberts Cup.
However, the Bradford Mutual Sunday School League contest at Hallfield was close, Girlington only winning by 12 runs after electing to bat and making 120 in 34 overs.
Abdil Hamid took 4-11, including a hat-trick, for Hallfield and was supported by Sajid Mahmood (3-24). Hallfield replied with 108 in 37.4 overs, Majid Zia taking a decisive 7-14.
Girlington now have a home tie against Yorkshire Friends, who beat Parkside (97-8) by four wickets.
Mandhata, semi-finalists in 2014, also have a home tie next against holders Bradford Moor YCA after beating TABS by 57 runs, Mandhata making 175-6 and TABS 118.
Salem Athletic got the day's highest total – making 309, with Masood Ahmed and Mohammad Siraj scoring 77 and 84 respectively, despite Umair Aslam taking 4-70 for Great Horton Church.
Asad Abbas (73) and Messum Nisar (42) led the reply but Church were dismissed for 157.
Interlink will visit Salem in the next round after beating Apperley Bridge by eight wickets.
The latter side scored 173, of which Ahmed Faraz Mirza made 63, but Interlink replied with 175-2 after an opening partnership of 117 between Mohammed Data (68) and Ibrahim Bismillah.
Mayfield are at Allerton in round two after defeating nine-man Great Horton Meths by 58 runs. Antony Moss hit 57 in Meths' 138 but Mayfield had already made 196.
A closer tie was that between Bradford Gymkhana and Yorkshire LPS, Gymkhana triumphing by three wickets. LPS made 120 in 34 overs, with Gymkhana's reply led by Mohamed Shiraz (41).
