THE new Bradford & District Evening League season starts tonight, with 16 teams split into two divisions of eight.

Salem Athletic will be looking to repeat their success of last year, when they were crowned Division One champions for the first time.

Meanwhile, Denholme have had a sustained period of success over the last few years and will be hoping to go one better than last year's runners-up finish.

However, both teams will face a challenge from promoted Great Horton Park Chapel.

Playing at their new ground on Ewart Street, the Chapel side will be eager to build on their triumphant 2014 season, when they were not only crowned Division Two champions but also won the Les Benson Trophy on finals day.

Shelf also enjoyed a good campaign, ending a point behind the eventual champions, so will be keen to build on that, while Thornton also have players capable of mounting a serious challenge.

In Division Two, Buttershaw St Paul's will be hoping to put the disappointment of narrowly missing out on promotion last season by finishing in the top two.

But they may face a strong threat from relegated John Breare, who are the longest-serving team in the league, while Stonewhite – back at Keighley's excellent ground – will undoubtedly mount a challenge as well.
