HAWORTH have gone top of the fledgling Mewies Solicitors Craven League Division One table on run rate.
They restricted visitors Haworth Road to 113 in Bronteland as Jamie Rowell took 3-39 and Stephen Bell 3-58, before Rowell made an unbeaten 44 as the hosts won by six wickets.
Meanwhile, defending champions Ingrow St John's suffered a surprise defeat against Embsay at Street Lane.
The Saints were dismissed for 117, with Ahtasham Raza making 41 as Phil Binner took 5-16 off 15 overs. John Golson (54no) and Duncan Ward (44) saw the Shires Laners to a seven-wicket win.
Barrowford rattled up 234 against Oakworth at Cure Hill, Adam Smith taking 4-79. The home side made a creditable reply of 208, with No 10 Steve Filkin scoring 49 not out, Smith 34 and Rob Hopkinson 31. They were 132-8 before Smith and Filkin put on 54 for the ninth wicket.
Bingley Congs left it late to take the spoils at home to Chatburn, winning by three wickets with just five balls to spare.
The Ribble Valley side made 205-7 as Harry Greenhalgh claimed 4-51. Josh Nutting (45) and Tom Mackenzie (35) were the main contributors for the Beckfoot outfit.
Sutton got their campaign off and running with a three-wicket victory over Foulridge at Royd Hill, with the visitors making 173-7. Sutton galloped home thanks to Richard Walker (51) and skipper Craig Thornton (50).
Crossflatts' trip up Bradford Road to Riddlesden proved fruitful as they won by eight wickets.
The hosts made 108, Amjid Hussain top-scoring with 51 as Jim O'Hara took 5-46. The Ryshworth Park side sauntered home thanks to Mohammed Adil (52).
Cowling and Thornton are the only two sides with a 100 per cent record in Division Two.
Cowling were at Long Lee and dismissed the hosts for a modest 125, with Johnathan Green scoring 31 as Babar Khan took 3-25. The Coliseum side struggled to the points by two wickets in the 41st over, Matt Taylor finishing with 4-38.
Thornton entertained Glusburn, who amassed 227-7 as James Tillotson made 82, but the Booth Bridge Laners replied steadily and won by three wickets in the 38th over.
Former Haworth player Ben Bright top-scored with 25 as Ingrow struggled to 108-9, with Jack Ellis taking 4-43 and Paul Carter 3-6 from 16 balls. Oakworth II lost four wickets in reaching their target, Drew Duffy hitting 32.
Matty Wear had a cracking afternoon for Denholme at Wilsden. The 17-year-old struck 44 and Rich Taylor 41 as the visitors piled up 196-6 – and the teenager followed up with 5-7 as the home side collapsed for 52, with Doug Richardson (25) being the only player in double figures.
Over 400 runs were scored in the drawn game at Hepworth & Idle. Visitors Airedale made 250-3, with Matthew Cox hitting a superb 136 not out and Paul Feather 46. The hosts' innings was interrupted by rain and they reached the 8pm cut-off on 172-4, with Chris Hawksworth making 68 and Jonathon Thompson 56.
There was no play in the Gargrave v Bradley fixture.
Cononley lead Division Three on run rate from Embsay II, the South Craven side seeing off the challenge of strong-looking Sandy Lane opponents by six wickets.
The Greenwood Park lads made 187, with Zeeshan Aslam scoring 47 and Ziar Khan 33 as Herbie Starkey took 7-50. Tim Starkey (58) and Andrew Starkey (45) were the main contributors to Cononley's 190-4.
Embsay II dismissed Bradford & Bingley III for 80 at Shires Lane, with Simon Holt taking 4-29 and Gareth Wooler 3-18. The hosts dashed to victory by eight wickets, with Neil Robinson making a quick-fire 35.
Michael Bailey took 8-33 off 13.4 overs as Riddlesden shot Haworth Road II out for 89 at Baildon Bottom. The Grange Road side lost four wickets reaching their target as Darren Shields made 52.
Adrian Shires (56), Chris Dennison (43no) and Charlie Shimmin (4-17) were the notable performances in Denholme II's 153-7 at Bradford Road. Visitors Haworth West End got home by three wickets, with Josh Holt scoring 64 and Joe Holt 40 as Jack Harrison took 4-27.
Barrowford II crumpled to 68 all out at Bull Holme against Skipton CI. Darren Pighills (3-14) and Sam Smith (3-33) were the best bowlers. Ian Burke (27) and Jonathan Sharpe (25no) then took the Sandylanders to the points.
Noman Riaz (52), Talib Hussain (49) and Hasnat Buckhari (44) helped Ingrow St John's II to a solid 226-8 at Eldwick & Gilstead. The twin villagers had no answer to Hussain, who finished with 5-21 as they slumped to 77 all out.
Four teams – Oakworth III, Bingley Congs II, Hepworth & Idle II and Haworth II – have an unbeaten record so far in Division Four.
Bingley Congs were impressive winners at Glusburn II. The Park Field side set a challenging total of 188, with Mark Johnston scoring 53 and Pete Schofield 48 as Tony Teale took 5-24. Then Charlie Raistrick (65), Gary Cook (37) and John Hill (34) were the main contributors to the Beckfoot Lane team's 198-4.
Hepworth & Idle shot out Chatburn II for 95 in the Ribble Valley, with Ian McEvoy taking 7-23. The Westfield Lane side finished on 97-3 as John McDermott scored 44 not out.
Haworth travelled to Foulridge and totalled 146, the Noyna side managing a paltry 79 in reply.
A feast of 516 runs came in the Wilsden II v Oakworth III game. The Shay Gate side rattled up 257-7 in their overs as Mark Humphreys, batting at No 8, made 73 not out and Sam Mitchell 63 as Tom Fothergill took 3-31.
Fothergill (95no) then figured in a second-wicket partnership of 224, with Nick Sharples scoring a superb 125 not out as the visitors soared to a nine-wicket victory.
Gargrave II travelled to Crossflatts II and won by eight wickets. James Baxter (44) and Josh Addy (47no) were the mainstays for the home side as they posted 171. Will Smith, with 103 not out, saw the Skipton Road side to the spoils.
Airedale II received three points when Thornton II were unable to raise a side.
In Division Five, Sutton II rolled Skipton CI II over for 79 at Sandylands, with Rob Suter making 45 as Sam Solley took 3-13 and Glyn Thornton 3-29. The Royd Mill side lost one wicket in reaching their target, with Tony Walton scoring 23 not out and Solley 20.
Cowling II took advantage of Ingrow II having only eight men, rattling up 208-2 in their overs as Sajid Shafait made a super 108 not out and Tahir Mahmood 39. In reply, the Hainworth side made 93-7, with Freddie James scoring 33.
Bradley II entertained neighbours Cononley II and saw them off by 68 runs. The Matthew Laners scored 194-8, with Danny Smith being run out on 98 as Mark Pickles claimed 4-49. Cononley II could only muster 126 in their reply, with former Haworth West End player Peter Hatton scoring 52 as George Bell took 3-12.
There was no play between Sandy Lane II and Long Lee II.
