ANDREW Gale missed out on an LV= County Championship century by four runs this afternoon, but Yorkshire have avoided the follow-on against Warwickshire at Headingley.
The White Rose skipper was dismissed for 96, caught at mid-off to a Boyd Rankin full toss, as the hosts were bowled out for 303 in reply to 435, and Warwickshire have since started their second innings.
A half-century stand for the ninth-wicket between Jack Brooks (21) and Gale ensured Yorkshire were not asked to bat again having been reduced to 249-8.
But both men departed to Rankin, who finished with a career best six wickets.
Warwickshire lead by 132 with four sessions of the match remaining.
