YORKSHIRE'S LV= Division One game against Nottinghamshire was heading for a draw after determined resistance from the Nottinghamshire batsmen in the afternoon session.
Samit Patel was caught by wicketkeeper Andrew Hodd for a 114-ball 76 and Riki Wessels was also snapped up by the keeper when attempting to cut Jack Leaning but Yorkshire failed to take wickets with the required frequency and the home side came into the game’s final interval on 292-7, a lead of 279.
Chris Read was unbeaten on 39 and Vernon Philander on 20 at tea. It now seems inevitable that the players will agree a draw at around 4.50 if the home side are batting and opt to declare.
Yorkshire’s bowlers stuck to their task but Read was dropped on 14 when Andrew Gale spilled a very tough chance to his left at cover off Jack Brooks.
