ALEX Lees collected his third fifty in three LV= Division One innings and was unbeaten on 68 as Yorkshire came in to tea on 140-1 in their County Championship match against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.
The 22-year-old opener took his first-wicket stand with Will Rhodes to 66 before Rhodes was caught by second slip Samit Patel off left-arm seamer Harry Gurney for a 62-ball 41, which had mixed good luck with good shots.
However, that was Yorkshire’s only reverse in a very well-contested afternoon session at Nottingham. Cheteshwar Pujara joined Lees and the unbroken second-wicket stand had added 74 runs at tea.
Pujara survived a confident appeal for a catch at the wicket off Jake Ball when he was 15, and then Lees had a let off when Patel dropped a chance off Vernon Philander when he had made 59.
However, both Yorkshire batsmen survived and are well placed to take their side towards its first bonus points in the evening session. Pujara is 31 not out.
