TWO wickets in a single Jack Brooks over revived Yorkshire’s hopes in the afternoon session of the first day of their LV= Division One game against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.
Brooks had James Taylor lbw for 59 and then Samit Patel caught by Alex Lees at first slip third ball for four after Yorkshire’s seamers had struggled against some very fine batting from both Taylor and Alex Hales.
The third-wicket pair added 171 in 35 overs before Brooks struck and dismissing Hales, who is currently 141 not out, will be Andrew Gale’s priority in the evening session of this game.
All the Yorkshire bowlers are finding it tough but Matthew Fisher continues to impress the critics and was unlucky not to have Hales caught at slip when the ball dropped just in front of Lees.
At the break Nottinghamshire are 281-4 after 64 overs with Riki Wessels six not out. Nottinghamshire scored 176 runs in the afternoon session at Trent Bridge.
