WINNING our opening County Championship match against Worcestershire earlier this week has given the squad a whole world of confidence.
Some people doubted us with so many players away but we proved that we still have the quality to win games of cricket.
When you look at our team and the players missing, six to England, a suspended captain and then Ryan Sidebottom goes down injured, we were almost without eight players.
As Jason Gillespie said: It's got to be right up there when ranking wins.
There has been a bit of a 'we'll show 'em' attitude within the dressing room as a result – but I think that's the kind of Yorkshire attitude most of the time anyway. People are always coming at Yorkshire hard.
Now we'll take our young side down to Trent Bridge to face Nottinghamshire on Sunday and give them a run for their money.
Notts have a really strong team. They've signed Brendan Taylor and Vernon Philander, both quality players, but hopefully we'll play some good cricket again and get another win.
I have loved my brief experience of captaining and the win at New Road was a very proud moment, especially given it was my 22nd birthday on the final day of the game.
At my age, I didn't think they'd give the job to me with Andrew Gale unavailable, but I'm thrilled they did. I love captaining and playing with this brilliant group of lads.
I want to do my bit for Yorkshire and I want to help Galey out when he's back leading the side.
The captaincy is not something I will go looking for in the long-term because Galey's a great bloke and a great leader and the lads will back him up in every single game we play under him.
But if it comes to a time where he steps down and they need somebody to do it, I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't want to.
